herpes zoster oticus – healed with acupuncture

The following is a case that I treated herpes zoster oticus. Patient, female, in her 40s started to feel severe pain in her right ear after a week of stressful work. She went to see specialist and was diagnosed as shingles or herpes zoster oticus. Doctor prescribed her 10 days Antivirus. The pain first reduced, but then on Monday she started had severe pain again and she had to take Pain Killer. When she saw us, she already started 3 weeks Steroids and did not find it useful. She was reminded by friend that acupuncture may work.
The first visit was regular diagnosis and facial and body needles were used w EA.

2 days later second visit: cry, said pain comes and goes, very painful inside her right ear. Applied WanGu point needle in addition to previous needles.
2 days later the third visit: she said her pain is 1 out of 10. But feel pain in her lower right abdomen, which she said might be due to her heavy medication of steroids (2 ½ weeks by now) and pain killers or constipation. EA.
2 days later the forth visit: she only felt some little firing of pain some time.. After session, she does not feel pain at all. She will travel business trip.
4 days later the fifth visit: She came back and now sometimes she had a shot of pain and slowly die down, She had 3 or 4 times in half day. But during the trip, no pain.
2 days later the sixth visit: she said the shot of pain has reduced a lot. Yesterday no pain. This morning only one time pain strike.
2 days later the seventh visit: she only feel short and dull pain in right ear at night while it is quiet and more concentration applied. Her doctor said there is only one scar inside her ear.
4 days later in eighth visit: she said she does not feel any dull or sharp pain past days. She only feels some tingling inside ear sometimes, but not bothering.
