For infertility people, going into the IUI or IVF seems to be a nature choice of getting closer to realize their dream. People just get into IVF cycles with different protocols and try and try. However, few people ever think about the cost and if there are other options.
Traditional Chinese medicine is one most important nature option to improve the quality of eggs. And even the doctors from conventional medicine are realizing the limit of stimulated medicine to the body and efficacy of getting quality eggs. Egg from nature cycle is always better than the eggs from stimulated cycle. And some doctors are promoting Nature Cycle IVF. Dr. Dimatina of Dominion Fertility states “Natural Cycle IVF (NCIVF) is effective. Our data shows that for patients under the age of 35 years old, their chances for pregnancy are similar to those patients undergoing stimulated IVF per transfer of one embryo. (See, DiMattina et al, IVF Lite, 2014;1:81-7) In addition, we showed that the age related decline in fertility is reduced with NCIVF compared with stimulated cycle IVF. In other words, for patients over 35 years old, the pregnancy rates were superior with NCIVF compared with stimulated IVF. One of my successful NCIVF patients was 48 years old when she delivered a healthy baby after her first embryo transfer. So, NCIVF may be particularly useful in the older age patient. Patients with poor ovarian reserve may also do well with NCIVF. Such patients generally do not stimulate well and produce few eggs. NCIVF requires only one egg, which is produced in the patients’ “natural” cycle.”
Dr. Dimatina continue: “I believe that the answer lies in the quality of the egg produced in the nature cycle may be superior to the eggs produced in a stimulated IVF cycle. With NCIVF, we usually find high quality ova in most patients and this appears to be true even for patients who have decreased ovarian reserve. With stimulated IVF, we use drugs to force the ovaries to produce eggs that ordinarily are not meant to grow.”
Patients who have been gone through IVF cycles are always puzzled with what they shall eat to help their egg quality. And there are few conventional doctors who can answer such a question. They might think the quality of eggs are not related to what patient eat, drink or life style, but a fixed and degenerating condition of ovarian reserve that nobody can control. What they do is to medically stimulate existing Atral follicles grown as much as it is possible and harvest. On the food side, to the most what they can do is to prescribe some Vitamins or Qoq-10, DHEA supplements. However, food does matter with quality of eggs and sperms and vitamins cannot replace food.
Chinese herbs provide nutrition and energy support to help improve the quality of ovarian reserve. Most of herbs are plants, and sort of extension of our regular food taken every day. Thousands of years usage and literature has proven its efficacy and latest researches using scientific methodology has proven it is effective.
